Setting up a static SOCKS5 proxy on macOS

Connect a dedicated SOCKS5 proxy through your system network settings in a couple of minutes — for the whole Mac or for individual apps. UDP and QUIC support, unlimited traffic and speeds up to 1 Gbps.

What you'll need

Before you start

After payment you receive your access details in the format host:port:login:password. That's all you need to connect.

1

Access line

Each proxy is issued as a single line: 185.10.20.30:1080:user123:passW0rd. From left to right — the server address, port, login and password.

2

Static IP

The address is assigned to you for the entire rental period: no rotation, no IP change. Ideal for stable service operation and long sessions.

System settings

Setting up a proxy for the whole macOS system

This method routes traffic through the proxy for most apps on your Mac (Ventura, Sonoma and newer).

1

Open "System Settings"

Click the Apple logo in the top-left corner and choose "System Settings".

2

Go to the "Network" section

In the sidebar select "Network", then your active connection — Wi-Fi or Ethernet.

3

Open "Details → Proxies"

Click "Details…" next to the connection and switch to the "Proxies" tab.

4

Enable the SOCKS proxy

Turn on the "SOCKS Proxy" toggle. SOCKS specifically, not HTTP or other protocols.

5

Enter the address and port

In the server field enter the host (for example 185.10.20.30), and in the port field enter the port (for example 1080) from your access line.

6

Enter the login and password

Tick the "Proxy server requires password" box and enter the login and password. Without authentication the connection won't be established.

7

Save the settings

Click "OK", then "Apply". The proxy is active — traffic will go through your dedicated server.

Example of the values to enter from the line 185.10.20.30:1080:user123:passW0rd:

Server (host): 185.10.20.30
Port (port): 1080
Login: user123
Password: passW0rd
For apps

Setting up SOCKS5 in individual programs

If you only need to route one app through the proxy, use its built-in SOCKS5 settings — without changing the system-wide parameters.

FF

Firefox

"Settings → Network → Settings" → "Manual configuration", SOCKS host — enter the host and port, select SOCKS v5. Firefox will prompt for the login and password on the first request.

CW

Chromium-based browsers

Chrome and Safari use the system network settings. Configure the SOCKS proxy in the macOS "Network" section — the browser will pick it up automatically.

CLI

Terminal and utilities

For curl, pass the proxy in a single command with the login and password:

curl --socks5 \
  user123:[email protected]:1080 \
  https://ifconfig.me
Verification

How to make sure the proxy works

Check your IP

Open an IP-address checking site in your browser (for example ifconfig.me or similar). It should show your proxy's IP, not your real provider's.

Check for DNS leaks

Our proxies operate with no logs and with DNS leak protection. On a DNS-server checking site you should see the proxy server, not your home router.

UDP and QUIC

UDP and QUIC support — modern services and games work with no protocol restrictions.

Unlimited and up to 1 Gbps

Unlimited traffic and a high-speed channel on all plans.

Questions and answers

Frequently asked questions

After payment you get access in your personal dashboard and via Telegram support. The details arrive in the format host:port:login:password — the server address, port, login and password for authentication.

Our proxies use login and password authentication. In System Settings, tick the "Proxy server requires password" box and enter the login and password from the line you were issued. The connection will not work without this.

No. You get a static dedicated IP assigned to you for the entire rental period. There is no rotation or automatic address change — convenient for work services and stable sessions.

Make sure you have enabled the SOCKS proxy specifically, that the host and port are correct, and that the login and password are entered without extra spaces. Check whether the rental period has expired. If everything is correct, message support — we'll help quickly.
